DDOA Chromebook Care

Policies

Students are responsible for the general care of the equipment they have been issued by the district. Students and their caregivers have agreed to the DDOA Responsible Use Agreement.

Please reference the Dell Chromebook Best Practices for Care and Use and especially follow these guidelines:

  • District devices must never be left in an unlocked locker, unlocked car or any unsupervised area to prevent being lost or stolen.
  • Cords and cables must be inserted carefully into the device to prevent damage.
  • Chromebook must remain free of any permanent writing or drawing as well as personal stickers.
  • Be sure hands are clean before using and keep devices away from food and liquids.
  • Charge the device only with the included charger and using a standard wall outlet for your power source.
  • Keep the device in a well-protected temperature controlled environment when not in use.
  • Chromebook screens can be damaged if subjected to rough treatment. Only use a clean, soft, dry cloth to clean the screen, no cleansers of any type.
  • The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure on the screen.
    • Do not lean on the top of the device when it is closed.
    • Do not place anything on the Chromebook that could put pressure on the screen.
    • Do not place the device in a carrying case, briefcase, or backpack along with anything that could potentially break or cause damage to the device.
  • Document any software or hardware issues as soon as possible and notify DDOA staff.
